Chamonix

Located 147 km from the campsite, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (or more commonly Chamonix) is a holiday resort at the junction of France, Switzerland and Italy. Located at the foot of Mont Blanc, the highest peak in the Alps, it is famous for its ski slopes. All year round, cable cars transport visitors to the various surrounding peaks that offer exceptional panoramic views, such as the Aiguille du Midi above the town and the Pointe Helbronner above the glaciers on the Italian border.

Near our campsite near Savoie (140 km), thanks to the A40 motorway, you are 2 hours away from Mont Blanc in Chamonix.

From the centre of Chamonix, the Aiguille du Midi cable car takes you to the gates of the Vallée Blanche at 3842m.

You will discover the Mer de Glace at 1913 m thanks to the cogwheel train “le Montenvers”. It will take you to the foot of the Mer de Glace. A grandiose panorama will be offered to you: the Drus, the Grandes Jorasses and the Mer de Glace. It is the largest glacier in France with a length of 7 km, an area of 40 km² and a thickness of 200 m.

Passes are available to visit the mer de glace and the aiguille du midi.
